Juneteenth Press Conference

In 2013, ONE DC helped recruit over 3,000 District residents to apply for the Washington Marriott Marquis Jobs Training Program.

The new Marriott Marquis, which opened in 2014, was required by DC's First Source Agreement Act to hire 51% DC residents at the new hotel.

Of the 719 workers that completed the training only 178 were hired.

Join ONE DC, the DC Black Workers Center, and the Kalmanowitz Initiative for Labor and the Working Poor at our Juneteenth Press Conference to release the Marriott Marquis Accountability Report.

Help keep Marriott International and DC Government accountable this upcoming June 19th from 10-11:30am at the United Black Fund, located close to the Anacostia Metro station.

We chose Juneteenth (June 19th) because of its historical significance. Juneteenth celebrates the liberation of enslaved black Americans in the United States. 2015 marks its 150th Anniversary. You can read more about its history here: http://www.juneteenth.com/history.htm
