Bill Fletcher, Jr. is a mentor at our
Kressley Institute and the
co-author of the recently published Solidarity Divided: The Crisis in Organized Labor and A New Path
Toward Social Justice.
Bill is a
Senior Scholar with the Institute for Policy Studies, the Executive Editor of
BlackCommentator.com, and the immediate past president of TransAfrica
Forum. Solidarity Divided offers an analysis of the
crisis of organized labor and suggests not only the nature of the problems
faced by labor unions but also offers proposals for what unions should
be doing to represent working class people, particularly in critical times like
these. Fletcher is the author of numerous
articles and opinion pieces on organized labor, Black America, U.S. electoral politics, and international
affairs. He has years of experience in the union movement as well as in
