Making
a donation on behalf of a loved one is a great gift that creates zero
clutter, zero environmental impact. If we receive your online donation at www.onedconline.org
before January 1st, we will call the person that you indicate to wish
them Happy Kwanzaa! (Or on or before December 24th for "Merry
Christmas" or on or before December 29th for "Happy Hanukkah.")
But there
really is no financial crisis.
What I mean is that it's really business as usual. The current system is the financial crisis. ONE DC's mission is to exercise political strength to create and preserve racial and economic equity in Shaw and the District and we maintain that structural inequity--which the government bailout did not address--is the root of the problem here in the city and throughout the country. We engage residents in popular education workshops and activities to reflect on the structural causes of income equity, for example, because the financial crises and disinvestment in our communities have been too long ignored.
Please
invest in economic justice.
It's the best "insurance policy" of all. With our ONE Right to Income, ONE Right to Land, and ONE Right to Housing organizing campaigns, we're fighting for guaranteed decent pay, housing, and public land that is for all to enjoy. Help us:
A
"small" donation can make a BIG difference.
Obama's historic win is a testament to that fact. His campaign received large donations, sure, but it was the many small contributions (and organizing efforts!) from average citizens that were crucial to his victory. With ONE DC running even more grassroots campaigns, your help is extremely crucial for our victory--which really means victory and justice for the low-income residents of the nation's capital. For example, a ONE DC member just donated $45 to us although she's a single mother with six children to support. Another member throws parties and socials to raise funds for ONE DC. Generosity like this says it all. It says: "Stay inspired and fired up!" It says: "Keep being rabble-rousers for radical change!" It says: "Each of us--no matter how poor, how disenfranchised--has the means to support people power!" We really do mean "give what you can." Consider a contribution to ONE DC a tithe...and has the collection plate ever refused $1? Well, we won't either! If you can only spare the change in your pocket, we can use it to make change in the community on your behalf. And in the spirit of tithing (and convenience), you can go to our website, www.onedconline.org, and click on any of the two red donation buttons on the right hand side to set up recurring donations. An amount you choose can be automatically deducted from your account every month, every three months, or every year. You can also donate in the memory of a departed one on the website. Or just send a check to us at Dominic T. Moulden, ONE DC, PO Box 26049, Washington, DC 20001; it should be made payable to ONE DC. All contributions are tax deductible to the fullest extent allowable by law. If there anything we can do to make the donation process easier for you, please don't hesitate to give me a call at 202-232-2915. Sincerely, Dominic T. Moulden Executive Director p.s. If you don't have the financial resources to give at this time, please donate your Internet surfing! If you go to the Yahoo!-powered GoodSearch.com and designate ONE DC as the organization you want to support (type "ONE DC" in the "Who Do You GoodSearch For?" box), we get a penny per search. No repeated manual clicks please--that could get us de-listed. Just search as you normally would and ONE DC will benefit. p.s.s. And if you're in the book-buying mood, visit www.onedconline.org and click on the red IndieBound logo in the left column. You will be directed to a list of the closest IndieBound-associated bookstores. From there, you will be able to order the book(s) of your choice...and ONE DC will receive a percentage of the sales. Thank you for supporting local bookstores and ONE DC at the same time.
